How Many Meters of Material Is Required for a Blouse? (Complete Guide)
One of the most common questions every woman has before giving a blouse for stitching: “Is this much cloth enough?” If you’ve wondered the same, here’s a simple and reliable size chart that tailors actually use.
Blouse Fabric Requirement (General Guide)
| Blouse Size | Half Sleeve | Elbow Sleeve | Full Sleeve |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS–M (32–38) | 0.80 m | 1.00 m | 1.30 m |
| L–XL (40–44) | 1.00 m | 1.20 m | 1.50 m |
| XXL+ (46+) | 1.20 m | 1.40 m | 1.70 m |
Extra Fabric Needed for Design Details
- Puff sleeves → +0.25 m
- Heavy pleated sleeves → +0.30 m
- Padded blouse → +0.15 m (if lining not included)
-
Deep back design → +0.10 m
You may require 0.30m more from the standards if the width of the material is 36" or lower ,for reference usual saree fabric is more than 40"
Do You Need Lining?
Most blouses need lining for structure. Add:
- 1.00–1.50 m lining depending on size and sleeve length
If Your Saree Already Has Blouse Material
Most sarees come with 0.80–1.00 meters — generally enough for short sleeves. For elbow / full sleeves, an extra matching fabric may be required.
